I know that Second Life is hot hot hot, and I should know more about it than I do, but I also believe this another area in which a tiny fraction of the population is participating.
On the other hand, I do believe that virtual worlds like Second Life are going to be huge on the Internet. It's probably analogous to where blogs were in 2000 or so.
Anyway, here's a link to a story on AdAge.com about using Second Life for marketing. Part of yours (and my) continuing Second Life education.
PS -- A few months back I had a media trainee report that a journalist asked them to do an interview in Second Life. My advice: find out more before you agree to do it. Questions I would ask: who is the journalist and how important is their media outlet? Why do they want to do it in Second Life? Is there any reason the interview can't be done in the real world? The point being, don't just go along because you want to be perceived as 'cool.' The point of giving interviews is to further your marketing objectives, and if an interview in Second Life accomplishes that, great. But if it doesn't, there's no point in doing it.
